Wicklander-Zulawski Announces Case-Study Success of Non-Confrontational Interrogation

Method Brings First-Degree Murder Charge in 20-year-old Unsolved Case

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. — Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates, Inc., a world leader in interview and interrogation training services for federal government agencies, law enforcement organizations and corporations, today announced a poignant case study illustrating the success of its non-confrontational interrogation methods.

In Eastpointe, Michigan, a convicted child molester was set to be released from prison after having served two terms for sexual assault. Yet, the disappearance 20 years ago of a local 13-year-old girl was still an open case, unsolved. Wicklander-Zulawski’s Certified Forensic Interviewers (CFI) were brought in by local law enforcement to visit with the prisoner. During this interview, the prisoner made incriminating admissions linking him to the girl’s disappearance.

As a result of the Wicklander-Zulawski interviews and additional investigation, the man has now been charged with first-degree and second-degree murder and is still in custody. First degree murder carries a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Proof of Effectiveness

This is just one example that illustrates the effectiveness of non-confrontational interrogation – more successful than many traditional interrogation methods.

“It’s human nature to deny and defend – confrontation is often not an effective way of getting information,” says company Co-Chairman David E. Zulawski, CFI. “It makes more sense to develop a rapport, build a relationship, so the interviewer and interviewee are simply having a conversation.”

Zulawski goes on to say: “We’ve been involved in countless cases where more traditional methods of interrogation were used, unsuccessfully, after which we were able to come in and get results using our trained staff and non-confrontational methodology.”
